Who are we?

Prairie and Pine has grown from our journey as educators and the experience we have gained through creating and developing Little Bugs Outdoor Nursery. Brought to you by the founders and staff of Little Bugs, it brings together years of practical experience in early years education, primary teaching, outdoor learning, leadership and management.

Our team includes experienced practitioners, pedagogical experts, qualified teachers, managers and our in-house Food and Nutrition Coordinator. Together, we understand both the benefits of outdoor learning and the real challenges settings can face when trying to deliver it confidently and meaningfully.

Through Prairie and Pine, we want to share what we have learned and support practitioners across the sector to take learning outdoors. Our resources and training are practical, inspiring and grounded in real experience, helping every setting create purposeful outdoor opportunities where children can explore, learn and thrive.

Our Approach…

Our approach is practical, purposeful and rooted in real experience. We believe outdoor learning should be accessible to every child and achievable for every setting, regardless of its size, location or available resources.

Inspire Others

We inspire educators to see the possibilities within their outdoor spaces. Through seasonal ideas, curriculum-based activities and meaningful experiences, we help practitioners create learning opportunities that encourage children’s curiosity, creativity and connection with nature.

Support Learning Outdoors

We support practitioners to turn inspiration into confident, everyday practice. Our guidance, resources and CPD training provide the skills and knowledge needed to develop outdoor learning gradually, adapting it to suit each setting, team and group of children
